Find more videos like this on The Kindness Cure Welcome to the Kindness Cure community! The purpose of this social networking site is to bring together the nicest people on the planet to help me perform one million acts of kindness in one year! How are we going to do that? Well, when you create a profile on this site, you are commiting to performing at least one act of kindness--random or otherwise--each day for one year. For every 2,740 people who sign up, we have a commitment of over one million acts of kindness for the year! Our goal is to sign up as many people as possible, so we ask you to invite a minimum of five people (or your whole address book!) to join us.
We also ask that you share your acts of kindness with the whole group, so we can all get the feel-good benefits of reading your stories. After all, research has proven that performing or even hearing about others' acts of kindness raises our own serotonin and endorphin levels, and reduces stress chemicals. So what we're really shooting for here is to raise the tone of this troubled country and give people hope and motivation to do good things themselves.
For my part, I will perform 365 acts of kindness during the year, videotaping them all to share with you and the media. We'll add new videos with a handful of AOKs (acts of kindness) two times each week. Feel free to pass them on to your friends and loved ones.
Why am I doing this? Well, a few years ago I was desperately ill with lupus and scleroderma, which led to a life-threatening heart condition. I was very negative and miserable until a Tibetan Lama told me to "stop feeling sorry for myself and start thinking about the happiness of others." When I started doing small things to benefit others, I began to feel happier, and the happier I became the better I felt until my condition went into total remission! Kindness literally cured me, and I believe it can cure what ails our troubled world too.
So thank you for joining the Kindness Cure and making a commitment to spread happiness around the globe. We hope you'll stop by the site often to check out our latest videos, read about what others are up to, share your stories, and participate in the great discussion groups. If you are so moved, please feel free to make a tax-deductible donation to the Healing Tree Foundation, which funds this project.
Finally, thank you for being one of the good guys who is out there making a real difference in this world. We appreciate you! xo, CJ Scarlet
