Profile Information

Tell us a little about yourself! Where you're from, what you do, what you care about.
I'm originally from California, but consider North Carolina to be the home of my heart. I am the founder of the Kindness Cure Campaign and The Healing Tree Foundation. I care deeply about the health and happiness of this planet and all the creatures on it. My greatest goal is to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I think we need to work out our own ego issues before we can achive true wisdom that enables us to genuinely help others.
How did you hear about the Kindness Cure?
The idea came to me in the middle of night about three months ago. It's taken on a life of its own since then.
Tell us about an act of kindness that transformed your life? (you could have seen, or done, or had done to you)
The greatest act of kindness I ever experienced was when the Tibetan Lama told me to "stop feeling sorry for myself and start thinking about the happiness of others." My ego was severely offended and I immediately rejected his command, but after trying it and seeing the miraculous results--both for others and myself--I became convinced of the healing power of kindness. Sometimes it takes harsh advice and a strong ego to break through barriers.

Thank you CJ Scarlet. Indy can be a great place-- Not too big, not too small. I have several sisters that work for Lawrence Central High School near the Fort, and my dad was the athletic director there at one time. My father in law also worked at Ft. Ben a long time ago. I love our Colts, our Fever, and the Indy 500. I am a gardener that works for lady who runs a no-kill animal shelter on the south side of town. I take care of all the senior and very ill dogs she brings to her home that struggle at the shelter. They get spoiled rotten. We have so many now I struggle to do the gardening, which I truly love though. I wish that more people cared about our four footed friends and all of life's blessings. I love that a site like this is here. Everyone just needs to love one another more and we could have a much better world.

CJ, this Femming is the real deal fighting it all with a smile on her face, along with reason for our minds, from her words.

Thank you for your comment. I'll be sure to tell my son Ohmdog made somebody laugh.

We live in Massachusetts.

Great kindness story today. One of the boys at my son's dance school had the flu on Halloween, and last night his entire neighborhood did Halloween all over just for him, since he could not go trick or treating on 10/31. What a beautiful act of kindness :)

Chad Helgemoe: (friend of a friend of a friend) has a 5 yr old son Noah. He is in the last stages of a 2 1/2 yr battle with Neuroblastoma Cancer. The family is celebrating Christmas next week and Noahs request is to get lots of Christmas cards. Lets get him some, please send cards to: Noah Biorkman 1141 Fountian View Circle, South Lyon,Mi 48178 Lets see how many cards we can get to this little guy. Please pass this on! I wish there was somewhere I could write this so that everyone could see it but I don't know how. This is a great example of an act of kindness and it will only take a few mins to get a card in the mail to make this little guys wish come true!

Thanks so much for your comment CJ!! I am so happy to hear that you will be joining the board! I know that I personally enjoyed your keynote at the symposium! I think that your point of view and passion will be a great asset the the LFA piedmont chapter! I am on the programs and services committee and we have lots of great people and great ideas for future projects. I am sure we will run into each other sooner or later. I would really like to talk to you. I read your book after the symposium and enjoyed it very much! I am interested in becoming a motivational speaker myself so I am sure I could learn a lot from you! Hope that you have a wonderful week!!

Thank you...For about 18 years I was involved with a program housing families with patients in critical medical situations, and housing cancer patients coming to our area for their treatments.
There is such a positive energy that emanates from your site...I am glad to share in that. A close friend and I are in the process of forming a group for women in our area....I will try to bring the same energy to that group. It will be a brand new group formed from the energy brought by each woman's spirit.
Look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Oh you're so kind but really I can't help but feel blessed. Of course most people are nice, but sometimes it takes a difficult situation to show the depth of kindess people are capable of. I have not found a job yet, but I'm still looking. I am hoping to find some account side agency work or a mid-level marketing position on the client side. Keep your fingers crossed! Appreciate your thoughtfulness :-) Oh and I sent this link out via Twitter and Facebook today!

CJ,
How wonderful you must be... I do not want to advertise my future store and business here. I am truly here for I believe in kindness even if we have to work to feel it. Funny, but I can, at times, think of great personal stories of kindness(that I executed) but I sure don't count them. I have had some wonderful people come in my life with a little gift, however, just because they thought I was "nice". That is what made me fall in love with the retail biz after a life time of saying "I would never want to do that"... the joy of coming in contact and making a difference to others (and they in me).. maybe it is becoming wiser, maybe it is our (hopefully) shifting conciousness- either way, I so appreciate it!!
Nancy
