There is a chap who comes into the gym at 06:00 each day and he always carries with him a bag in which he places litter that he picks up during his walk to the gym. He is well-to-do, owns his own business but does not consider it below him to pick u…

Lisa, what a super way to brighten someones day as well as your own. Smiles arre a wonderful reward and you may well have started a chain-reaction that spread to many others that day.

That is such a good point Julie. If we can begin each day with a positive intention then we can feel good about that accomplishemnt and about ourselves in general. If I have a committment scheduled that is going to be a tough challenge then I like…

It's easier said than done but I try to shift my perspective to veiw the situation through their eyes, their pereception. As you have so well described, sometimes folks mean well but their actions become annyoying and even offensive to us till we re…

Tell us about an act of kindness that transformed your life? (you could have seen, or done, or had done to you)
About seven years ago a close friend of mine wrote to say she was dying of breast to liver cancer and asking if I could move in and help her with her farm. I did and she taught me so much about living , joy and kindness. She wanted to leave this life on her beloved farm and I was able to offer her care and companionship in making that dream come true. She altered my pereception of myself and the world around me.

Chad Helgemoe: (friend of a friend of a friend) has a 5 yr old son Noah. He is in the last stages of a 2 1/2 yr battle with Neuroblastoma Cancer. The family is celebrating Christmas next week and Noahs request is to get lots of Christmas cards. Lets get him some, please send cards to: Noah Biorkman 1141 Fountian View Circle, South Lyon,Mi 48178 Lets see how many cards we can get to this little guy. Please pass this on! I wish there was somewhere I could write this so that everyone could see it but I don't know how. This is a great example of an act of kindness and it will only take a few mins to get a card in the mail to make this little guys wish come true!

Well, crap. Just types you a long message and then managed to delete it! lol. I would LOVE to see some of your short stories. Please send them to me at: cj@cjscarlet.com. I look forward to reading them.
Feeling fine after my dental work, but am quite achy (achey?) today. Didn't get enough sleep and am paying the price. Then I had a full day today between hospice work and radio interviews. I'm beat! I'm going to snuggle up in bed with my latest book, Eat, Pray, Love (which is quite awesome) and read till I fall asleep.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Hugs, CJ

Hello Craig - I hope you don't mind that I read your post to CJ (it was under the one I just posted). I just want to say that your journey sounds like it has been an amazing one - to be in Nature like that and surrounded by the beauty of it. Not too many people have had the chance to do that anymore. There seems to be less and less untouched nature in our world. And to come to the side of your friend when she needed you most is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story and pictures!

You MUST publish your book, Craig. Your writing is so evocative that I feel like I am looking out over the frozen terrain and hearing the wind howl. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I can recommend a fantatic editor who is very affordable. Would love to see a sample of your writing. I just returned from dinner with my hubby and step-daughter, who is a freshman at North Carolina State. I also just had dental work done so I could hardly stand to eat! So, I'm numb and hungry now. lol. I hope you're having a great evening. Say hello to the racoons for me:-) Hugs, CJ

Do consider going the self-publishing route. I personally wouldn't recommend iUniverse, but Lulu might be a good choice. The services they offer can get you in the book stores in no time.
So what's this about being stationed up "north?" Where? For how long? What were you doing there? What an exciting adventure! I'd love to hear more about it. Thanks for the book recommendations. I'm in the middle of The Well-Dressed Ape, a look at humans from a strictly objective eye, comparing and contrasting us to other animals. Fascinating. I hope you have a great weekend. Hugs, CJ

The name of my book is Neptune's Gift: Discovering Your Inner Ocean. I hope your book gets published too. What's it about? What is the title? Have you considered self-publishing? I MUST know! lol. The pics you posted are great. That is a neat little cabin you have there; very cozy looking. At 70 degrees here, it's hard to remember that we had snow just last week. Do you get an actual summer up there, or it is merely a slight abeyance of winter?
As far as my reading goes, I am a quantum physics, paleoanthropology, archaeology buff. I have started reading a little fiction lately--Dan Brown and such. As far as the classics go, I love Plato and modern day spiritual philosophers like Eckert Tolle. If you can recommend any must-reads, please do so. I read voraciously and am always on the make for new reads. I especially love it when the books I want are available on Kindle--my favorite toy of all time.
Great chatting with you. Hugs back:-) CJ

Thanks for the response, Craig. I'm not surprised to learn that you are a writer. Have you considered writing a book? What books do you like to read? My first one just came out and my second is in the editing stage. I haven't looked at it in months. Just got home and am whipped, but I'll write more later. It's so nice getting to know you! 'Night.
