Though we've divided kindness into categories, calling them groups here at the Kindness Cure, I wonder about that. Yes, I'm a part of it myself, heading the self-kindness group. But kindness really defies being captured from only one perspective. I've been pretty busy recently with Christmas preparations, (kindness to family, loved ones, others), Christmas gift selections (kindness to family, loved ones, others), baby-sitting my grandson (kindness to family, loved ones, self), spending time with my son at a football game (kindness to family, loved ones, self), and on and on.
Any and every aspect of being kind impacts multiple others, some we can identify, some we won't ever know about. Kindness is kindness, and though I'm especially interested in the particular aspect of kindness toward self, it, too, will radiate outwards and eventually impact others.
Today I found myself feeling kind of yucky inside, which made me grumpy toward anyone I came into contact with, even email contacts. Then I realized I was mad at myself for over-indulging in my favorite Peppermint Bark candy. A quick recognition of the cause followed some kind self talk and I was back to my positive self. Better for me, lots better for everyone around me, even you my friends in cyberspace.
So I'll continue to stimulate the Self-Kindness group with thoughts and questions, but they may not always be nicely categorized into self-kindness. Kindness is Kindness, which is what CJ and this site is all about.
